27-07-08 Paint and Feature walls

The painting is almost complete. We are SO happy with the wall colour that we have chosen (Chalk Beige 1/2 strength), and glad that we renegged on our original choice of 'Bone'. A few more coats of paint on the stairway handrail and other bits and pieces, and it should be done.

When we rocked up, we were surprised to see that they had cement bagged the balcony in preparation for the render to go on!

The feature walls have been done in the study as shown below. The colour is 'Donkey' in case you were wondering.

The two walls of the master bedroom have also been painted. This time we chose 'Ranch Mink'. A little dark at first glance but once you fill the room with furniture and and add some carpet, it will blend beautifully. We saw this colour at another two storey PD display (not a Cremorne 41) and loved it!

The rear facing wall of the house has also been painted, in 'Sandbank', a little darker than the paperbark gutters/windows for contrast.

Here is the Balcony from the side...

...and here it is from underneath. Not sure what they intend to do with the boards - whether they will stain/treat them with anything?

In the garage we have noticed some crappy timber work and will expect that they will fill and re-paint this section.

In the rumpus we discovered a gapping hole in the ceiling where the frame seems to have given way. I think the chippy may need to return.

Lou discovered something about our ensuite as well. Our ensuite cabinet is 700mm high as seen below...

...our plans say that it should be 865mm!! That's 160mm shorter than what the plans say. Maybe Ok if you're a midget....

It seems they haven't learnt from B&Ps experiences?

House is coming along really well! At this stage you might get handover before us! What a bunch of morons! I'm so annoyed that they repeat the same mistake after our experience. Hope you get it fixed soon. I'm also really annoyed that you are able to have a niche in your ensuite shower when they told us that it wasn't possible. Hmmmppfff.

Well at least thet're actually working on BOTH your houses.Day after day no one turns up at our place. We started before you , T& L, and we'll be lucky to get to lock up next week. B&P - bunch of morons is right - I've had it with this company.I don't think any of these guys actually stop and think "Oh, that doesn't look right - or, even...hmm...maybe I should read the PLAN????? Noooo - do you THINK SO???!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
T&L both of your feature colours are stunning - I love them! They'll look absolutely gorgeous with the carpet you've chosen.

Obviously they haven't learnt! I take it that the support piece underneath the vanity needs to be longer? The main reason we were told we couldn't move the toilet like M&M did was because of the confusion is causes. It seems confusion is caused even if you don't make any changes!!! You guys are lucky you are on the ball. I think I'll now every measurement and every code by the end. B&P, we were also told that we could not have a niche in the master because of the shower taps and that they will not move plumbing. Just goes to show that these rules do not apply to every client and that the branches/offices work in different ways. I'm still really pi**ed off that T&L have got 1/2 strength C.B.

Sorry for the rant.......I'm sure you all understand.

Back to a happier topic. Tim and Lou, your feature walls look lovely. Your bedroom is going to look devine once you furnish it. House is moving along really quickly. Hope the tiling goes off without a hitch and that they do a good job.

Thanks guys - PD never cease to amaze me. Turns out the 'updated' version of our plans has a different version of the ensuite than the original set of plans and the cabinet maker may have the wrong set. Communication does not seem to be their strong point.

They need to remove the entire cabinet and re-build it - unlike B&P, its not the height of the support stand underneath, its the entire cupboard that needs to be increased in height as ours has a 'kicker' below.

When we looked at the plans we thought that the entire cabinet would need to be re-done. Not really good enough that builders can't send the correct plans to their suppliers. Well spotted!

Hi T&L
Thanks for the welcome.
I certainly envy you guys who are nearing completion.
While our house is racing along, completion still seems a mile away, and I am all the time consious of that Christmas holiday period where the tradies lay down their tools...!!

It has been terrific looking through many of the blogs (incl yours) and getting a good feel for what is ahead for us.

Keep in touch.

Just found your blog - lots of interesting info to be found. Will be adding to our blog reference list. Can't believe the cabinetry but to look on the bright side, at least they have replaced them all.
We were able to have the niches in our showers too - sales consultant even suggested to go with "square" niches instead of a rectangle ones. That way we were able to get two for the same price as one.
Love you feature walls - we are going to do ours in Donkey as well but will do after handover.
