8-06-08 Scaffolding removed and new addition

Well its been a week now since the pre-plaster inspection was carried out and a few things have happened. The scaffolding has been taken down and the bricks have been cleaned and they have a come up a treat.
(Looking at our temporary fencing, we often wonder what purpose it serves if it's constantly OPEN!!).

We are having the balcony rendered so the finish on it was not as tidy as the rest of the house.

The pic below shows the additional beam that has been added (the centre one). This was an item that 'K' picked up as being 'missing'. 'K' had been out to another Cremorne the week before and picked up the same missing beam(this is not just a noggin, its an entire load bearing structural beam!!) . Something that BSS didn't pick up.
The Steel bracket that you see it bolted to was a part of the original 'I' beam but nothing was attached to it. The 'I' beam is purpose-made and no one had picked up that it didn't have anything bolted to it - scary.

The chippy was out on Saturday and on top of rectifying some of the issues 'K' had picked up around the place, he has also erected the garage roof trusses...

... and installed the frame for the balcony deck. We have asked for the level of the deck to be raised a little, as we felt the step down would have been too big for the cherubs (and us after a few drinks). There is now only a 40mm step down to the deck.

The decking timber has also been delivered

I also took the opportunity to take home some of the remaining bricks so they don't get removed. We hope to get Brian the 'brickie' back to build us a matching letter box after handover.

All in all it's been a really great week with the unveiling of the house now that the scaffolding has been removed. Our week became even better than great by weeks-end though, because on a more personal note we were very excited to welcome into the world a new Little addition to the family, our niece, Lola Eve - Born Thursday 5/6/08 at 11.40pm Yippee!!

Just adorable - and here she is, less than 12hrs old.

Oh, what a beautiful baby!!!Cluck, cluck!! And such a gorgeous name.....Oh, yeah...the house was there somewhere, too...LOL - I love tiny babies! The house looks sensational, the brick cleaning really does make a difference, doesn't it?And the scaffolding - I never realised until they put ours up last week just how big it is, and how it interferes with your view of the house!Seems like they fixed K's issues pretty quickly, too. Not great about BSS not picking up that beam thing - I'll have to point that one out to DH! So, when's plaster starting?

Hi Petal, thanks, Lola is just a beautiful baby and making wifey and the cherubs very happy.
Plastering is due to start this week. Most of the insullation has been installed so they should be ready to go by Wed. Are you sitting on the PC - We couldn't believe how fast you posted after I published the entry!!!

House is looking great! Makes a huge difference with the scaffolding gone, and the bricks cleaned. Love the bricks you chose. We didn't even get a temporary fence - something which will be addressed later, however it looks as though they are next to useless anyway. Cute baby! Ummm - just noticed the times of your comments - almost 6am on a Sunday morning! that's keen!

Hi Guys, love the house! Love the baby even more!!! I think I'll always be clucky when I see a new born. Makes you realise how quickly they grow up....sob sob sob. Are you two going to fill that extra spare room ;-) Is Lola a sister to Bella?
Back to the house, looks great, bricks look fantastic! Great choice! Kids and I took a peek at M&M's yesterday as I was over at my sister's house which is around the corner. Happy to say I still love the Jarrah. I think it's great that us Cremorne people all have the same house but they all look so different.
Can I ask where the missing beam was located? I don't think we are going to have an independent inspection, but I'd like to find out as much as I can from other cremorne reports so I can keep a look out for them. Thanks.

Enjoy your new little neice..... Steve's cousin received twins early hours of Sunday morning, one of each. M&M's turn next!

Oh, I just noticed your "elapsed time" on the front page, very cool. Can't believe that in 42 days you have something that looks like a house!!!

Hi HTB - the missing beam was located in the ceiling/floor above the family room. It runs from left to right from the steel 'I' beam in the centre of the house to the external family room wall. There is meant to be tripple beams as pictured and a steel bracket for it to bolted to, but they seem to have missed it.

Hi Perry - the time in this system seems to be a bit wonky. We posted this at about 10:45 last night which Petal can attest to as she commented within a milisecond after it was published!!

I have also rectified the time stamp issue - it was set to 'Pacific' time, not 'Eastern' Std - DOH!
