10-08-08 More tiles laid

On the weekend we decided to go out for a picnic with Lou's Mum, Step Dad and Grandma from Port Macquarie, and of course the cherubs.
When we arrived we found that the tiling was about 95% complete.

The Laundry wall tiles have been done,

and so has the WIP,

the toilet floor,

and most of the bathroom.

Here is a pic of the floor tiles. As other bloggers have noticed, photos never do the colour any justice - we noted the same.

Here is a shot of the Ensuite shower with the border tiles we chose.

And here is a close-up of the border tile.

Below is the powder room with the wall tiles laid. You'll note that there are no pipes poking out of the wall. That's because we are having an extended flick mixer tap located next to the basin.

Here is the Bathroom shower almost complete.

We were contacted on Thursday by 'H' and told that the tiling would be finished by the end of the week (not) and that by the end of this week, that we would have a handover date - woohoo!! Lou and I are taking bets on how long it will be till we get the keys. Lou seems to think it will be a few more weeks after my proposed date - we'll have to wait and see ;-)

Ohhh, and they've painted our front doors as well (the colour is actually a little darker than this in real life)

And finally, as Britney says, "Oops... I did it again" - yep, you guessed it, the Cabinet maker has stuffed up AGAIN! They rectified the height issue of the ensuite vanity unit, but inserted the wrong basins!!

Well, a picnic at the new house? I like it.
Frustrating with the basins. Where you wanting the type that sit ontop of the bench?
We also put the flickmixer into the powder room (we've actually put them throughout).
You also look to have upgraded your corinthian door to a similar style to what we have. Is your colour "scorpion"?

Hi D&S, the basins we chose are more rounded with a higher profile, only have a singler hole for a flickmixer but are still recessed into the bench. The model is the 'Caroma Cosmo Above Counter' basin. The crazy thing is, they actually installed the correct ones in the original vanity (when it was built to the lower height) and amazingly they have re-installed the wrong ones!
The colour of the front doors is Vintage Plum.

Fantastic photo of the picnic. Thanks for sharing the family photo with us. All I could do was to shake my head when I read about the vanity. Sheesh! Don't they learn? The scar thing is that these screwups are factored into the price, and we all end up paying for them.

House is looking great! You will be in there in no time at all!

Thanks for all the pics! It's all looking great. Nice to see the Amari Oak done in a vanity (my kids are having this in their bathroom). Love the feature tiles too.

So does that mean that PD will now have to get a new top for the vanity for the correct basins?

Looks like you all enjoyed the picnic, nice for the In-Laws and Grandma to see the house. Love Port Mac too, we go there every September - five and a half weeks till we leave ;-)

All looking gorgeous - I love your feature tile, v nice! HOW could they get the basins wrong???? I shouldn't ask that, I guess looking at all the mistakes on our place, but, gee.....grrr!

Nice spot for a picnic, too ;-)

Thanks guys. Yes HTB, they are going to have to replace the bench top as the correct basins have a very different shape.
